Do I need a patent, copyright or trademark when I market a t shirt with a picture and a saying?

I am going to produce a t shirt with a picture and an original saying on it something similar to saying God's Pods if I was selling I pods, or Moses' hoses if I was selling garden hoses. It's going to be original but not the two examples I gave. I am trying to find out how to protect myself from copycats.
