Is it easier to knit a hat, or crochet a hat?

I personally think knitting is easier. I do both. Go to a knitting supply store or craft store and look for istance with buying corded needles. I'm thinking no longer than 40cm long. There are great videos on youtube for "knitting in the round" Also buy appropriate "weighted" Yarn for the "guage" of needles you buy.
