I have a 2 year old puggle who is having putrid secretions exit his rear end. What's causing this?

We just had his glands drained 2 weeks ago and it happens when he is relaxed. The vet said it usually happens when they get nervous or excited, but it'll happen when he's just snuggling with you. Ideas?
