Is it just me, or does it seem as though every conservative....?

Doesn't it seem as though every conservative who doesn't agree with someone say that he/she is 'destroying our country'? What's up with that? I think that conservatives are trying to hold the country back (I'll admit, maybe a bit of an exaggeration), like how the conservatives during the French Rev. tried to hold on to the 'tradition' of having a monarchy.
