Is the "no snitching" creed reinforced in hip hop music?

Do you believe the no snitching code of the hood is reinforced in hip hop? I mention this because this is a topic often touched on in hip hop music. If you were a witness to a crime, do you think you would help the police solve the crime if it meant snitching on someone? Have you or anyone you know been faced with this situation?
